Back around 2000-01 (pretty sure it was -00), “Bredbandsbolaget” released their internet service at 10/10 mbit using dynamic IP. I in fact switched from my slowmoe dial up to using their service even before they announced it, because the lines were enabled. In fact, way back there, I got a taste of 100 mbit for a few days, downloading the entire Red Hat distribution (4 ISO’s) in 12 minutes or so (that was several gigs).

Now, 6 years later, I’m finally moving on. 3B (BredBandsBolaget) have been really good, for the most part, but during these 6 years, I’ve constantly asked for static IP, and constantly been told that it’s nothing they intend to put in place. When I got an offer from another ISP which included static IP, I figured, hey, I’ve waited 6 years for this, 3B haven’t listened, and these new guys are cheaper anyway. And they’ve got 100/100 mbit. So I switched.

So here I am, using my new provider. I’m not entirely happy with the switch. For instance, the new ISP (Blixtvik) gave me 1 single IP address, and no dynamic ones. So I’m forced to sit behind my router, when I actually wanted to put Enrogue outside of it. Additionally, their (Blixtvik’s) support tech are for the most part incompetent idiots, but I’ll hopefully not need to talk to them very much.
