A friend of mine has just begun what I intend to begin next year around this time, namely go to Japan and study for 2 years at a language institute (Japanese) there. He’s got a blog, in English even, here: http://brandtjapan.blogspot.com/

There’s only really one thing that could totally demolish all my plans to do this thing, and that is the “IRS” issue. I had a company for 1.5 years which, despite a decent pay, barely broke even. Right now, I’m about to send in the papers to a “$100/hour” auditor who will fiddle around and determine just how much I owe. My bet is ~20 grand SEK (which is ~$3 US grand), but there’s no telling, especially since, due to my terminating the business, I am now obligated to “buy out” all the equiment (i.e. my new computer and so on). Although about a year ago, I did promise that if I were eligible student aid for the 2 years, I would go no matter what, this truly is the determining factor in the end.

So here’s to hoping. Hope with me please.

I’m sending every ounce of hope I have to you. Even the little bits that reside in my toes. There will be a way for you to go, I’m certain of it. *huge hugs*

  2. *hugs back* In a few weeks or so, I’ll probably know what the deal is.

  3. Cincerely hope you’ll get there so I can get rid of…just kidding. ;) I checked out Brandts blog and Its really absurd, not 100% crazy, just absurd in a slightly-wtf way, comparing it to all other things I read.

When you get to JPN you have to blog often.

Me english suck ass. Today. :P

  4. I will try to. :)

  5. I’ve sent in the papers for declaration (is that the right word in English I wonder..?) for last year to an accountant-person. She’ll get back to me two weeks from now or so, once she’s figured it all out. She’ll tell me exactly what I need to pay, and that’ll pretty much determine the outcome of my plans for awhile forward. Eep, I am nervy as fuck…

  6. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you honey.

  7. Don’t want to go into details, but let’s just say I just came out safe on the other end of a Mt. Everest-sized “road-bump” a few days ago. Chances that I’ll pull this off increased by about 90%. :)
