I think the point behind twitter is to "IM everybody who cares", just like the point behind blogs (partially) is to "talk to everyone who cares". I may not care about you reading a specific book but that's not really the point. Similarly, there may not be a point in me writing about the latest in my life, but that's the beauty with blogs. :)

Nicole~> You're on facebook? :) Me too! I found people I hadn't heard from in 11 years on that thing so I'll definitely stick around there for awhile.

I don't really see the point, this blog/IM mashup of sorts. Maybe in a few years I'll suddenly have a eureka moment and start using it, but right now... no. :)

I've got a twitter account page, but I have only used it twice. I find it a little difficult to remember to use it when I have subscriptions to a million services. Reminds me of the Facebook 'writing on the wall' sort of thing. I just don't really figure that anyone would care in the least that at the moment I am reading a certain book or watching such-and-such on tv. Of course, it may be linked to the same reason I don't like mobile technology -- I don't really like people being able to get in touch with me every minute of the day (or in this case, know what I'm doing at any given point) :P

I use it, http://www.twitter.com/christophera -- I have a number of friends that are on it and it is kind of nice to feel a 'gestalt' of what everyone is doing. And unlike IM, it is a very casual medium that doesn't interrupt much (I use growl and twitterific so it fades in and out very fast) and it does not require a timely response. Lately I've been using the SMS features of it on the iPhone, as SMS is push and they are nice to browse though.
