Some time ago, August 2006 to be exact, I wrote about going back to school to “fix” my high school grades. Well, today I got my last grade. Here’s some facts about what I took and how it went (explanations below) — and yes, I am bragging!

Fall, 2006

  • Society A (100h, MVG)
  • Religion A (50h, MVG)
  • Swedish B (100h, MVG)
  • History A (100h, MVG)
  • Project (100h, MVG)
  • Science A (50h, MVG)

  • 500h

Spring, 2007

  • Physics A (100h, MVG)
  • Chemistry A (100h, MVG)
  • Biology A (100h, MVG)
  • Math C (100h, MVG)
  • English C (100h, MVG)

  • 500h

Fall, 2007

  • Physics B (150h, MVG)
  • Chemistry B (100h, MVG)
  • Math D (100h, MVG)
  • History B (100h, MVG)

  • 450h

A 3-year high school education (in Sweden) is ~2100h, and I did 1450h in 1.5 years. The grades are IG (failed), G (passed), VG (passed, did well), MVG (passed, did very well). I guess the translation into U.S. grades would be something like F=IG, C=G, B=VG, A=MVG. In any case, I’m proud of myself. :)

  1. Excellent stuff there Kalle!

Though some is a bit confusing still :) High school is the equivalent of US college right? And I’m going to guess the ‘h’ stands for hours? If so though… that’s an awful lot of them for a small amount of subjects. Sheesh.

Aside from my American ignorance on how the grades worked exactly - in the overall I definitely understand the ‘passed very well’ and you deserve lots of kudos for that!

  2. Thanks Nicole! :D

But nah, high school is the equivalent of high school in the U.S. The thing you go to right BEFORE college. “h” = hours yeah, just like in “mph” or “km/h” etc.
