Presents for my fiancé’s family.

My fiancé’s Japanese, and as such, presents (or “omiyage” (お土産)) are extremely important. So important in fact that the following conversation occurred yesterday between me and my fiancé:

- her: by the way!
- me: yep?
- her: when you come here, you said you’d put a bunch of chocolate in your bag, right?
- me: yep!
- her: sure you’re not going to forget about it?
- me: already started buying stuff, and going to buy more tomorrow
- her: oh, okay! good! thanks!

It’s not just “a nice gesture,” and since we’re getting married, I have to be extra careful about this kind of stuff. So I went on a buying spree earlier today. This is the haul:

(edit: this looks completely fuck-tarded with my current WP theme; suggest you look at the LiveJournal syndication)

Lots and lots of chocolate. Of various kinds.

This thing apparently causes bubbles to appear when you move it. Brother's 2-year old will approve, I'm sure. Though it says '3+' so will have to be supervised playtime on this one.

I obviously need to gift a rat too. Not sure who will be the recipient yet but I'll figure it out.

Here you see its beady little eyes. Love at first sight, no?

This dog is sooo fat. It's for brother's son. Though I'm thinking of getting one for myself, cause frankly, this thing is potentially the coolest plush toy I've ever seen.

  • Just look at that fat little fucker.
  • This guy...

... has a shot at winning some 'nightmare inducing' award...

    Hug... me.... now...?

    .... need... love.... now...!

LOL! Any room in your bag for your own stuff? Or will you just cover yourself with cuddly toys? ;)

Those last few photos made me laugh, closer and closer…

Good call on the chocolate…especially as I don’t know most of them, yum!

PS the photos looked fine in my GReader account window thankfully; I just came here to comment/abuse.

Well, I’m actually going to bring my BIG bag trunk and stuff it with a week’s worth of clothes and then a BUNCH of stuff for everyone. That way my fiancé can stuff it with her stuff for the big move, and I’ll check it in for extra 20 kg’s. :)

As for chocolate …. turns out I need like, 4 more boxes. And I need a couple of other things as well. *weeps*

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I can’t get past the “wiener nougat” lol sorry Kalle. I can’t help myself, and it’s not my fault that “wiener nougat” is what it’s called! Anyhoo I’m sure they will enjoy all of the gifts and chocolates….even wiener nougat *falls off of chair laughing* miss chatting with you :) Give the woman a big old kiss and a hug!

Bah, it’s a name. I think whoever started making them just called them by his own. :P And it’s great chocolate, so I doubt they’ll whine! :P :P
